Comparison of Two Clinical Snapshots – NR 340: Adult Nursing I
THE TASK Compare the Clinical Snapshots of two related, but different medical disorders. A Clinical Snapshot is a complete, yet brief, written picture of a medical disorder. It includes Definition, Patient Situation, Assessment Findings, Plan of Care and Pt Teaching Points. Supplementary drawings can be included but are not required.
STEPS OF THE PROCESS
The Research
1. Review the course syllabus and select two related yet different medical disorders that are of interest to you. Read as much as you can about the disorders you have chosen
2. Select and copy two nursing journal articles about each of your chosen disorders
10% The Definition
3. Write a Clinical Snapshot of each disorder beginning with definition, causes, risk factors, associated symptoms, etc. Use your own words and write in sentences.
20% The Patient Situation 4. Create a Patient Situation with a Chief Complaint and Assessment Findings, physical and psychosocial cues and laboratory data for each disorder
20% Plan of Care
5. Design a Plan of Care including Patient Teaching points for each Patient Situation
40% The Comparison
6. Compare the similarities or differences of any four aspects of your Clinical Snapshots. Some examples of aspects you could compare are:
goals of treatment
risk factors
causes
assessment data
nursing or medical interventions
associated symptoms
research findings

7. Kindly use current APA format throughtt

8. Highlight significant words, not whole paragraphs, in each journal article you used. Submit copies of two of the articles with your completed paper.
The Evaluation 9. Three to four pages plus Reference List are enough. Quality and quantity are often not related. Evaluation is based on: Strength of Comparisons Content Organization; Use Labels for clarity. Sentence Structure: Write in complete sentences, do not use lists. Confer with your clinical instructor to answer any questions you might have about this project.
