Write a letter to a member of Congress or senator in which you analyze an issue and argue a specific side. Note #1: it doesn’t matter which side of the issue that you take as long as you argue your side well. Note #2: Your job will be made considerably easier if you find a congressman or senator who disagrees with your POV (think about the 8 clergymen). This topic will involve researching the issue, analyzing the issue, and arguing your POV. The issue should be related to one of the topics that we have discussed in class or that is related to the texts we’ve been reading. Examples would be arguing for/against reproductive rights (a woman’s rights issue), arguing for/against anti-lynching legislation; arguing for/against the voting restrictions.
