Write a letter to yourself at graduation.

Write a letter to yourself at graduation. Your purpose is to explain who you
are now, what goals you have for your college experience, and how you
might achieve them. Imagine yourself on graduation day reflecting on
your first few weeks of college and what happened between then and
graduation. We’re primarily concerned with your academic career, but it
does not exist in a vacuum, so you can make reference to your personal
life, too. Be specific and detailed. Be honest and clear.
Incorporate each of the following sections in your letter:
1.
Who I Am Now: You are at the start of your college career. In the
letter, establish who are you and how you see yourself at this time.
What are you most proud of and what might you hope to improve about
yourself? What are you most excited about as school starts? What worries
and concerns do you have?
2.
Where I Am Now: This is an unprecedented time to begin college. What is
your learning environment like? Where do you live? What technology and
other resources do you use? Who else lives with you? What are the
strengths and weaknesses of your environment?

3.
Goals: What do you hope to do, accomplish, participate in, join, try,
complete, and achieve by graduation? Are these new interests / goals or a
continuation of your current accomplishments and interests? Why do you
have these goals? What motivates you? Include internal and external
motivators. What do you hope to avoid? What do you intend to alter about
yourself as a student, if anything?

4.
Plans: How do you hope to achieve your goals? What strategies worked
for you in the past and what has not been successful? Be specific in the
steps you will take and a tentative timeline.
