Based on his actions and his character, was Napoleon a hero or a tyrant?
This is not only a paper of opinion; you need to write your paper with specific examples as evidence to back up your argument.
Your papers should be structured in the following way:
Introduction
Your introduction should be a broad introduction of Napoleon, explaining who he was, and WHY WAS HE SO IMPORTANT. You should also be outlining what you will be writing about in your paper.
Your introduction also needs to include a Thesis Statement. A thesis statement MUST be an opinion and it needs to take a stance on all of the questions above. It should be one sentence. Or if you really need two sentences that is fine, but if you use two it better be one amazing thesis.
Body Paragraphs
This is where you need to provide your specific examples and show me how much you know about each example and how well you can tie these events, people, etc. to your opinion of Napoleon.
Conclusion
This is where you will continue to convince me that your argument is the “right choice.” You should sum up the main points that you have made and leave me with the lasting impression that you have devoted significant energy to writing your paper. NOTE: There is no “right answer.” I am not grading you on your opinion. I am grading you on your ability to BACK UP or SUPPORT your opinion with historical evidence that was presented to you in Chapter 20 and from class.
