Over the course of this semester, you will be required to attend two live concerts. They both must be classical in nature (orchestra, philharmonic, chamber, etc). They must also be professional or academic performances. Also, the performances must be music-centered, so musicals and operas will not count towards this assignment.
The assignment: Write a paper detailing your thoughts, observations, and reactions to the music, the performers, and the atmosphere of the event as a whole. The best reviews will use terminology and ideas from the textbook and class lectures. They will spend some time analyzing each piece or work performed (exception: if there are many shorter, vocal works performed). Finally, they will reflect on the experience as a whole.
