Week Six Journal Question
While it is more then fair to ascertain that Andrew Jackson brought a certain degree of racism with him to the Executive Office, it is also fair to say he was not acting in a manner that was unconventional to the federal government at that time. In an earlier lecture, we examined the relationship between the native tribes of eastern North America with the British government and white settlers.
For your journal entry this week, what is the strongest similarity between Britain’s “Indian Policy” in the mid-to-late eighteenth center and that of the United States in the first third of the nineteenth century, and do you think British policy influenced the United State’s eventual policy?
