Write a paper on the Elements of African American Identity. Do not exceed word count; must meet minimum word count.
Students will discuss the formation and continuing development of African American identity. Within this essay, students will focus on the four eras below:
The pre-slavery era
The era of slavery
The Civil War and Reconstruction era
From Reconstruction to the present era
Within the essay, you will discuss each period and highlight an aspect of African American identity for each.
You will also focus on a historical person, event, or another facet of these eras that contributed to the formation of African American identity.
Include at least two peer-reviewed sources no more than five years old, in addition to the textbook for a total of three sources.
Format your paper according to the University Writing and Style Guidelines for 300 course-level papers which includes use of headings, title page and reference page.
