Write a paper that critiques the body of literature presented in your argument of discovery (detailed outline).

Consider the following:

1. How does the evidence answer the research problem?
2. Where is it lacking? What are the gaps?

This is your opportunity to convince your reader of how the existing knowledge does and does not answer your research problem. It is
sometimes called the “argument of advocacy” in which you advocate for the need for your study.

This will eventually form the last few pages of your literature review. It follows the main body of the literature review, which you began writing with your Detailed Outline assignment.

Note that the critique should only highlight the most relevant and important takeaways from the full background you covered in your detailed
outline. Make sure that anything discussed here is already presented in more detail in the full background.

Conclude the paper with your thesis statement.
NOTE: students often forget to include the thesis statement at the end of the critique. Clearly label your thesis statement.
