Develop a storyboard for the course project. (Review chapter 6-Quality and Performance Improvement in Healthcare book for additional information on storyboards.) Brainstorm issues or opportunities for improvement observed in academic setting, general community, or a healthcare setting. The issues can be educational processes such as enrollment, receiving financial aid, or customer service issues in relation to the bookstore, registration, etc. In a healthcare setting, there may be issues with receiving service due to shortage of staff, incorrect medication, etc. Current processes with the local government or general public service that do not seem to be working might be good opportunities for improvement. For example, Covid-19 solutions, processes at the grocery store or online purchases, and/or the department of motor vehicles that need improvement might be evident.
Timeline: Project Deliverables: Weekly Assignments due starting February 18th
Due Date: Week 7- Feb 18th
Course Project Assignment #1: Select a process or service to evaluate for improvement opportunities.
Course Project Assignment #2- Develop a mission statement and a vision statement for the process or service. (See Chapter 4)
Due Date: Week 9- March 4th
Course Project Assignment #3- Identify customers (both internal and external) impacted by the current process. Identify the customers’ requirements. (See Chapter 7)
Due Date: Week 10- March 11th
Course Project Assignment #4- Identify the current process for the topic you have selected to change. Please use a flowchart diagram to show the old process and new process (i.e. new process is based from your research/findings for improvement). (See Chapter 10)
Points will be deducted if not in a flowchart diagram.
Due Date: Week 13 – April 1st
Course Project Assignment #5- Write a performance improvement plan, indicating recommendations gathered from your research and findings. (Submit an essay format- APA style. The standard format requirements include: double-spaced, minimum 2-3 pages in a word document, Arial or Times New Roman font, 12 font size, and 1 inch margins)
Due Date: Week 14- April 15th
Course Project Assignment #6- Submit course project in Power Point Presentation format, which includes assignments #1-5. Be creative.
You must provide a presentation of your course project (explaining your storyboard from beginning to end using the note page) for each PPT slide. In each PPT slide, you can click on notes to copy and paste your presentation (must have at least 7 -10 PPT slides, including a cover and reference page).
