For this part of planning your integrated study, you will use the forms below to help you think through these planning skills.

3. Research your topic. Do a web search to learn about your topic. Find accurate, up-to-date information to share with the children. You may want to find scholarly articles about the topic that are written for both young children and older children to use as resource information.
4. Write your big ideas. What important understandings do you want your children to learn through this study? Your big ideas should be written in simple language a child can understand.
Once you have done this, create a Brainstorming Web to record your ideas for many different possible activities related to your topic. Think of as many ideas as possible. You don’t have to use them all! You will be using some of these ideas in future modules to create lesson plans for physical development, communication, arts, and inquiry curriculum areas. You might find some great ideas by referring to the Indiana Foundations.
