Write a reaction paper to an article The End of ‘Central Europe’? The Rise of the Radical Right and the Contestation of Identities in Slovakia and the Visegrad Four ( the article will be uploaded). This paper is not supposed to be an essay, nor an opinion piece where you express your
(dis)agreement with the reading. In fact, your opinion is not really something that will matter here
for the evaluation of your work. The reaction paper should display a familiarity with the theoretical
approach that the reading exemplifies – it should briefly restate what the research does, how it
does it and reflect on how it exemplifies the approach under discussion that week. In other words,
you should show you understood both what the research in question did and how. In addition, you
should make explicit the connections to the theoretical approach constructivism and interpretative theory. Again, substantively, the reaction paper should summarize the main ideas of the reading, discuss the
methodology and offer some substantive comments/criticism on what they are doing in their
research. Beware of critiquing things you don’t understand yet (so it’s best not to make claims about
their faulty methods or theory, unless you are really knowledgeable about it). The RP should also
reflect on how the reading in question connects with the week’s topic- Constructivism and interpretative theory. Remember, a reaction paper is more than a mere summary, it critically engages the reading, it has a simple thesis – it assesses and reacts to a piece
of research.
