In an essay of four full pages, respond to the question: “How is the specific contribution the author Sulmasy’s discussion of spirituality in the practice of clinical medical care makes in this text relevant or valuable to our lives today, or why is it not relevant or valuable?” Keep in mind that you are not being asked to write about the whole tradition the author represents, but about the specific claims made by the specific author you choose. Make sure to provide textual evidence for your own claims.
In your essay, make sure follow the steps presented in the video “How to write an essay,” posted at the top of our eLearning page. That is: make sure to state a thesis (i.e., that the text you’ve chosen is or is not relevant), then present and discuss two or three reasons in support of that claim. Make frequent reference to your chosen text throughout the essay, avoiding long (“block”) quotations. Also be sure to present, consider, and refute a counterargument (the strongest claim against your thesis) and restate your thesis in conclusion.
