Write a research paper Mexican mafia.
This research project will consist of you picking a topic in the broad field of Gangs. This topic can include research on a specific gang, a person, gang rites, gang culture, etc. or a topic which interests you in this field. You will research your topic and complete a minimum 5 page paper detailing your results. You will also have to create a 22+ PowerPoint slide show summarizing your paper. The PowerPoint presentation will have to have a “cover” slide and a citations page which is included in the 22 slide minimum. You can place a short film clip, no more than 10 minutes, in your presentation if you desire (it is not mandatory).
DETAILS OF PAPER:
5+ pages of detailed research and findings on your chosen topic.
12 Point Font (ARIAL)
1 Inch Margins
Double Spaced
Justified Margins
APA Style of Citation (the Library has information on this). If you do not cite, automatic 30 points off the top. May also be considered plagiarism. If you cite case law, I will show you how and all cases need to be cited correctly.
For this project, I DO NOT need a cover sheet or ABSTRACT. You will, however, be required to cite your sources APA style.
NO WIKI OR OTHER SUCH SIMILAR WEBSITES ARE TO BE CITED. WEBSITES SUCH AS THESE ARE NOT RELIABLE WITH THE INFORMATION THEY PROVIDE. IF I RECEIVE ANY CITED INFORMATION FROM WIKI OR OTHER SUCH SIMILAR SITES, YOUR GRADE WILL IMMEDIATELY BE REDUCED BY 10 POINTS.
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO CITE AT THE MINIMUM 7 DIFFERENT SOURCES, ONLY 2 OF WHICH CAN COME FROM THE INTERNET. What the last part means about internet sources, is that you can only use 2 different specific websites from the Internet. However, if you use the Library and use the database and come up with an article from your search, this is not considered by me as coming from the Internet. All topics have to be PRE-APPROVED. I suggest that you narrow your topic down from the rather broad subject of Gangs.
This is a RESEARCH project, not just taking information from a book or other source and copying that material. That is one reason why you have to narrow your topic down so that it will be manageable. Also, remember that you have to CITE any sources that you use in your paper.
REMEMBER, DO NOT REGURGITATE MATERIAL FOUND IN BOOKS, ETC!!! That is a “research project.” Be creative and have fun with this project. Learning does not have to be boring! Also, remember to spell check both your slides and your paper prior to turning them in. Both the paper and the PowerPoint will be turned in through GO (Blackboard).
You will be graded not only on content but also on grammar, sentence structure, etc.
Also, if you use a Mac, make sure the Mac files are converted to Microsoft Word and PowerPoint or I will not be able to open them!
