Write a scholarly critique of the assigned chapter or article in APA formatting. A scholarly critique is not a re-telling or a summary of the plain sense of the text(s). Rather, it is a document that articulates an understanding, analysis, and a capacity to identify intellectual and pragmatic/ pedagogical application(s) of the reading to current trends in curriculum and instruction and how these can be applied in the classroom.
As a group, you may select a role from the Critic’s Corner Roles Actions provided and write from that perspective—for example, Feminist, Philosopher King /Queen, etc. Given the density of the course readings, students are not expected to critique every aspect of the text, but rather select one or more big ideas and focus the bulk of the analysis there.
Critiques are to be minimum 1 page in length (not including cover page and reference page), well written, and in full compliance with the rules of excellent composition. Grades will be based on both content and form. Please remember to include all group members’ names in the coverpage.
Additionally, the paper should be double-spaced and a reference page should be included with hanging indents as the last page.
