Guidelines for Scholarly Paper
Purpose: To provide the opportunity for students to become familiar with the purpose and bylaws of a professional nursing association.
Instructions: Students must complete the following sections for this paper:
Choose a nursing association.
List the mission and purpose of the association.
How is it governed?
What is the legislative agenda of the association?
How is that agenda developed? Is the membership involved?
How is the agenda communicated to the membership?
Does it partner with any coalitions?
Does the partnership influence policy on a national or state level? If yes, how?
When you graduate will you join the association? If yes, why? If no, why not?
Additionally,
Your paper should be at least six (6) paragraphs in length (each paragraph should have at least five sentences). The first paragraph should be the introduction, the next four (4) should be the body, and the last paragraph should be the conclusion.
You must follow APA regarding citations with references (Please ensure to include at least three (3) citations with references. One [1] or two [2] of your citations can be personal communication—check your APA manual for the correct way to cite personal communications). Please use 12 font and check for grammar and spelling errors.
Each page of your paper should have a running head including your title page (see pg. 61 in your APA manual). Your title page should only have the title, your name and the name of the college you attend (along with the running head as page 1). Your references should be on a separate page following the conclusion and should have a list of references that correspond to each citation in your paper (see pg. 66 in your APA manual). However, if you cite personal communications, you will not add them to the reference (Please see your APA manual for guidance on personal communication citations).
