Write a scientific paper based on a team experiment conducted in the lab. In the paper, you will describe a biological concept, identify a question, state a hypothesis, describe an experiment, report your results, and interpret your overall findings. As with any scientific paper, it will be important to place your research into a larger context by citing other relevant primary research articles. Divide your paper into separate sections, with headings:
Introduction
Methods
Results
Discussion
Literature Cited

The data table should be created in MS Word or Excel or a similar program.
Do NOT simply copy/paste the original data table that you were provided.
Make sure everything is clearly legible and formatted to fit the page dimensions of your paper.
Include units where needed.
The graphs must be drawn by hand using graph paper (provided in the lab manual). Scan or take a photo of each finished graph and paste them into your MS Word file. Make sure they are legible and sized appropriately. Include units, label the axes, and provide a descriptive title.
The line graph should illustrate your dependent variable (y-axis) as a function of time (x-axis). Include a legend if multiple lines are shown on the same graph.
The bar graph should be based only on the final time point (i.e., the end result). Each bar should represent the average of the trials at a given treatment level.

In your lab paper . . .
You may cite the lecture textbook for general background information. No other secondary sources are permitted.
You must cite at least three relevant primary sources in your paper.
A primary source is a scientific research article published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Secondary sources like reviews, perspectives, summaries, etc. are not appropriate for this assignment, but they can help you locate primary sources.
You may cite the same three sources throughout your paper (i.e., in the Introduction section and in the Discussion section).
Feel free to cite more than three primary sources, if they’re relevant to your paper.
The primary sources should be relevant to your experiment, but DO NOT expect to find a perfect match to your specific experiment.
