Write a summary paper on the North Carolina’s Progressive Paradox.
Historian William Powell has portrayed North Carolina as the most progressive southern state in the twentieth century but other scholars have suggested less positive interpretations of the Tar Heel State. Write an interpretive essay in which you briefly review this historiographical debate and then critique North Carolina’s progressive image in the twentieth century by analyzing at least three significant historical events.
