Write a true revision that makes improvements throughout the paper and not just in one or two places.

Type in 12 pt. Times New Roman
Use 1.5-inch left margin, 1-inch top, bottom, and right.
Set page numbers (Insert/Page Numbers).
Name your Word file by your surname (last name) first: Last First 3. (The 3 is for the assignment number. Make sure to include spaces and no extra letters, punctuation marks, or words.)
Your first page should look like this with your name listed the same as your file name, your Composition I section number, the due date, your word count, and a centered title.

Genre: personal narrative/memoir, analytical essay
Audience: your classmates and the general public
Purpose: 1. To create an image in your readers’ minds so that they will understand why it is significant to you. 2. To reflect on your writing process through revision to create an essay that shows progress in your writing. 3. To make a connection to a course reading that helps you reflect on the writerly choices you made as you revised your essay.
Assignment 3 must meet the following guidelines in order to earn full credit:
Describe an object/image in detail.
Use sense details throughout that allow readers to “be there” with you (i.e. red wheelbarrows, white chickens).
Provide answers to readers’ who, what, when, where, why, and how questions.
Include some commentary about meaning and significance.
Include some reflection that uses “How to Eat a Guava” to help you analyze your story and your writing choices. If you prefer, you can use the Lewis Thomas Lives of a Cell excerpt for your course reading connection. (This will work well if your essay uses simile or metaphor.)
