Write about how Desmonds ethnographic approach is different and similar to Rabinows. Highlight the items about housing and poverty that struck you, and then highlight how you think that Desmond found this knowledge. To narrow itsince there are many cases–consider focusing on a single landlord (such as Tobin or Sherrena) and one of their tenants. You might consider using the Chapter titled Christmas as a focus. When you do that, youll contrast with Rabinows approach. State what you think the distinct approaches of Desmond vs Rabinow are useful for. And conclude with your thoughts about how these methods might contribute to your final fieldwork activity (Lesson 15). Remember: Use citations and direct quotations. As much as possible, use our concepts especially situated knowledge, cultural relativism, emic and etic to develop your points. Include a puzzle, provisional response, and a creative title.
