Write an analysis of a mobile game of your choice using either or both of the week 9 readings (one by Mäyrä & Alha, the other by Steirer & Barnes). You may choose to focus on either Candy Crush Saga or Red, the two mobile games assigned as your screening for week 9. Alternately, you can pick a mobile game of your choice to focus on, though it should primarily be a mobile game, rather than a port of a game released on other systems (e.g. Minecraft and Fortnite were released for PC and consoles first and then a mobile game port was subsequently released, meaning they are not primarily/originally mobile games). Given that one of the readings focuses on Angry Birds, you cannot pick that game to write on.
Your response paper should discuss in detail the mechanics and design of the game, the game’s economic model, and what aspects of the game (if any) make the game “mobile.” Your analysis should draw on specifics about the game you chose to write on, providing examples for close analysis. If it is a game you are already familiar with, you should be sure to play/replay the opening of the game to better understand how it introduces itself to new players .
