Directions: Write an essay defining a word or concept that is important to you. Explain what it is, what it is not, and why the way the word or concept is defined/understood matters.
It is also important to have a purpose in defining a word or phrase: (1) people have a wrong understanding of the word/phrase (say love or free speech), and you want to change their views; (2) people have a foggy understanding of a word or phrase (say love or family), and you want to clarify the meaning by examining the idea closely.
I chose the word love, so I have to ‘try to define’ it in my own words. The essay has to be 4 pages long with an intro, body paragraphs and a conclusion.
