Write an essay in which you agree or disagree with Turkle’s assertion that “the new conversation” (dividing our attention between the person in front of us and our phones) “is not doing the work of the old conversation” (talking to each other without a phone in sight).

In the article, “Stop Googling. Let’s Talk,” Sherry Turkle argues that face to face conversation is the “most human and humanizing thing we can do.” In fact, this type of conversation works to teach us “empathy.” Turkle claims that we simply cannot connect to others on a deep level when our phones are part of the equation.
Write an essay in which you agree or disagree with Turkle’s assertion that “the new conversation” (dividing our attention between the person in front of us and our phones) “is not doing the
work of the old conversation” (talking to each other without a phone in sight). Be sure your essay has a thesis and that you clearly support or argue against the idea that our phones are preventing us from truly talking to and connecting with each other. You may use your personal experience, and/or ideas from materials you have read or viewed to support your claim. In addition, you must quote at least once from the article, “Stop Googling. Let’s Talk.” to help illustrate your points.
