It needs to be a four page written evaluation of an emergency operations plan preferably South Carolina’s emergency operations plan and it needs to include a bibliography.
Students will select a municipal emergency operations plan which can be found through a basic Internet search or with assistance and consultation of the Instructor and prepare a written evaluation (minimum 4 pages in length) including a bibliography. Many cities and towns make them readily available to the public on the city/county website. If you have any difficulty finding one, please reach out to me and I can assist you. Feel free to select your plan from anywhere in the country, it does not have to be from North Carolina. Emergency Operations Plans are standardized documents – meaning they all contain the same components such as hazards identification, resources, maps of flood and evacuation zones, etc. However, not all plans are created equal. Your assignment is to evaluate the quality of the plan, its content, its readability and user-friendliness as a member of the public. Does it include the necessary elements? Are there glowing omissions? While these are some components to look closely at, feel free to drill deeper into your plan as they will vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Use these as subheads in your paper to guide your writing.
