Prepare a written analysis of 4-6 pages (plus any supporting charts/graphs) on a topic of your choosing. The case may be done individually or worked on collaboratively with one other student in the class.
1. You may do an economic report & forecast going forward in our economy (monetary vs. fiscal policy, interest rates, inflation levels, GDP, Fed Funds/Discount Rates, money supply, etc.)
2. You may research a mutual fund company and do analysis on a specific mutual fund in your chosen family of funds. Fund examples are Fidelity, Vanguard, Oppenheimer, Aim, Merrill Lynch, Janus, etc. Include: the history of the fund (inception date), historic performance (Return %), Returns vs. the S&P 500 & DJIA, portfolio weightings & asset allocation, annual expense ratios (12b-1 & management fees, manager tenure, and fund objectives / investment style (growth, income, value, etc.). You may also want to perform a statistical regression analysis to determine any correlations.
3. You may research how exchange rates have an impact on international trade.
