More and more critics argue that we should enact legislation that prevents corporations from bombarding our youth with advertising. Ads for junk food, fast food, and sodas encourage poor eating habits, and some people argue that ads for TV, film, and video games encourage violence and laziness, adding even further to America’s obesity problem. Some even argue that constant exposure to fashion models encourages eating disorders in young women and girls who feel they aren’t attractive unless they are as skinny as the models.
