Information about Audience Analysis.
By now it should be pretty obvious that good speakers are audience-centered. Good speakers understand that the primary purpose of public speaking is to gain a desired response from their listeners. As we have learned this semester good speakers do a number of things. To refresh, they:
Always keep in mind the audience, the occasion, and the situation
Keep in mind who you are speaking to and what you want them to know
Seek to create a bond with the audience by emphasizing common values, goals, and experiences
Understand the psychology of the audience
Examine features of the audience unique to the speaking situation at hand
Use the analysis to adapt your speech to the audience
