Description of assignment
For this paper, you must LOCATE a scholarly article through Google Scholar or JSTOR (not regular Google or Bing). This article must be pertinent to your overall research on the character you have been assigned, but there is no single article that will answer all the questions that you need to answer for this paper. The article needs to be at least 15 pages long. Encyclopedia entries, Wikipedia, and websites aimed at children are not acceptable.

You will write a summary of this article. A good summary explains the author’s main point, gives details about the main argument, and in general explains to the reader what the article contends and how it does so.

All this is harder than it sounds. Many people have problems with the following: running commentary, bad topic sentences, absent thesis (your thesis should articulate what you think the main point of the article is), inability to attribute or cite correctly (remember that you are summarizing someone else’s work rather than saying that you yourself did this research), and mechanics.
