Explain why students should become critical thinkers. Does critical thinking need a moral/ethical base? How would you describe it?

Philosophers and educators have agreed on the importnace of critical thining, but have not agreen on what it is and how to teach it. Please include a discussion of the concept as it is described in the Common Core with a formal paragraph format of Introduction, Body and Conclusion.
