Podcast Segment 1 Title: What’s Cool about Biology?
Pick three of the five major themes in Biology (Evolution, Structure/Function, Information Flow, Energy Transformations, and Interconnections within Systems). Explain how each theme applies to everyday life.
Describe the scientific process (or method) and explain how it supports biology as a science. In your explanation, provide a realistic example that shows how this process could be used in a topic you find interesting.
Dive into the different fields of biology by sharing your insights on two separate and exciting fields in biology. Describe the focus of each field you mention. Give an example of how each field impacts your daily life.
Podcast Segment 2 Title: Greater Than the Sum of Your Parts
Introduce the concept of emergent properties by identifying three molecules and discussing how they interact in physiological processes of the human body.
Give three examples showing how the chemical properties of some molecules cause them to interact with each other in specific ways during a cellular process. Be sure to include the importance of the properties of water molecules in at least one of your examples.
Use your examples to help listeners understand how putting parts together in a specific way results in our ability to live, think, feel, move, and reproduce.
