PlplMy Goals and Re-Interests in The Pharmacy Sector
The importance of pharmacy to me extends to a great interest in pharmacy which I have always had, and it is because of this that I managed to get involved in the medical field where I could be closer to the pharmacy sector. The reason behind my choice to pursue my studies in pharmacy is my keenness to play my part for a more advanced level of pharmacy care. My true passion lies in helping others in a safe and effective way with the use of innovative pharmaceutical services. This passion was innate as even my parents are health workers retirees. Additionally, my fascination and love for pharmacy propelled me into pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Rwanda to become more professionally relevant in the healthcare field and have a significant impact on society. Undertook training made me secure various jobs that could allow me to apply my skills in pharmacy thus giving me more than ten years’ experience. These were not limited to undertaking managerial tasks, offering training to colleagues, distributing medicine, and advising clients on treatment procedures. Despite having this degree, my vision in the field of pharmacy is greater since I wish to attain a Doctor of Pharmacy level which will be a major move and growth for me since it will come with a lot of avenues and opportunities to better serve my new community.
I believe that to provide better pharmacy services to society, a certain set of skills need to be used by a professional and therefore this is why I am drawn into learning a lot and also furthering my studies in the field of pharmacy. It is through this learning that I will be able to better my skills and also by becoming a professional and adding to the numbers for a better future for the citizens in my country as healthy individuals. Becoming the best means learning from the best and this is why I am interested in pursuing pharmacy in the United States since this country houses a lot of great doctors and pharmacists with whom I can work in the medical field. Learning in this country will also provide me with opportunities to gain skills in nursing, professional ethics, communication, and psychology and these will aid me in better handle and communicate with the patients thus giving these patients the best services. Through this, the general health of the members of the society will be boosted to a greater extent. Furthermore, failure is not in my vocabulary and my commitment to achieving my goals in pharmacy is fueled by inspiration from my father who was also a doctor.
Since I have relocated to the USA and left an over 10- years experience with a considerable education pedestal in pharmacy field, I wish I could resume my pharmacist career because it brings needed knowledge on my path and direct effects on the lives of people in the community wherever one lives. The pharmacy profession will engage me in the improvement of others health. Community pharmacist, which is my preference is one of health care careers which make practitioners closer to their communities.
Another push for pharmacy studies to next level is that, Pharmacists must meet a mandatory requisite for education to ensure that all pharmacists are knowledgeable about professional practices and treatment, and as long as I did not graduate here in the USA, the regulatory organism requires some training to be certified. Thus, it implies taking additional educative program.
My ambition and targets are more clear and I have set myself in achieving every piece of my targets in pharmacy since the vast experience that I had taught me a lot and molded me into a better healthcare provider but still showed me was in which I could better my skills and career in pharmacy. I know that there will be a lot of challenges that I have not yet familiarized myself with, but I will face these challenges and whatever comes my way and be part of the Doctor of Pharmacy program. The reason behind my choice to pursue my studies in pharmacy is my keenness to play my part for a more advanced level of pharmacy care. My true passion lies in helping others in a safe and effective way with the use of innovative pharmaceutical services. This passion was innate as even my parents are health workers retirees. Hence, my passion should now be in line with pharmaceutical service innovations of the health system in USA. These innovations actually are acquired through such higher level of education.
So far, in a view to being academically prepared, as English proficiency is a key element in order to succeed, I took couples of classes at University of Southern Maine (USM), including English as a second language, and English for Health Professional at Portland Adult Education. Equally, I consulted peers who have the same academic profile as me, long-established here in the USA and already have certified pharmacists. So far, I have acquired prerequisites important for me to embark on Doctor of Pharmacy doctorate program with ease.
