The company’s website and the SEC’s EDGAR (Links to an external site.) site can be used to obtain corporate financial statements. Yahoo! Finance (Links to an external site.), the Wall Street Journal (Links to an external site.), and MorningStar (Links to an external site.) are sources for free information on companies’ financial ratios. Yahoo! Finance and the Wall Street Journal allow you to see the last four years of a company’s financial statements easily. However, EDGAR is not as user-friendly. Here are instructions for accessing financial statements through EDGAR.
The SEC’s EDGAR site allows you to view all of the financial statements of a publicly-traded corporation. Here are instructions:
Go to https://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html (Links to an external site.) (Links to an external site.)
Search for the corporation you are researching, by name or stock symbol.
Click on the company name.
Type 10-K in the Filing Type field and hit enter. [This pulls up the company’s annual reports.]
Click “Interactive Data” for the year you want to look at.
Click “Financial Statements” in the navigation menu on the left.
Click on the link for the financial statement you want to see.
