By the end of the
17th Century, Europeans had conquered territories on the four continents and
islands bordering the Atlantc. But, who actually
constructed the colonies that built them into such profitable enterprises that
enriched Europe?
In answering this
question, focus on: the labor and experiences of (1) the population of African
ancestry; and (2) the labor and experiences of the indigenous population; and
(3) how Europeans refashioned the existing methods for empire expansion developed
by the Indigenous Civilizations of the Americas to construct their colonies. Be
sure to include material from the textbook readings, primary sources, and
