Argument within a documentary

Watch the Film: Over the next few weeks you will need to watch your chosen documentary taking notes and creating an argument. I encourage you to watch the whole documentary early in this project and then maybe watch one or two more time as we work through the project.

The Paper: And finally, the writing portion of this project. Each of you will be writing a paper responding and making an argument with the literature. What that argument may be is entirely up to you. While I am certain the text will provide plenty of subject matter, you must be the one to sort through it all and come out on the other side with a complete and coherent project. This paper also needs to include a portion analyzing the rhetorical aspects of the text and the writer’s/filmmaker’s decisions on how they use the rhetoric. The paper must include, but is not limited to the following criteria…

Your reason for choosing this documentary/docuseries (occasion for writing) or the relevance to today
A summary of the documentary/docuseries chosen to the project
A brief rhetorical analysis of the filmmakers rhetoric decisions
Identification and explanation of the argument being made in the film
Fallacies of the film
Your personal stance on the argument and the film itself

Final draft should be approximately 5-6 pages

Double spaced

And include a Works Cited page
