Explain why the rhetorical device, as used by the author in the quote, is important, interesting, or relevant.

Directions: Post the thesis you plan to use for paper 1, and two body paragraphs. Remember the three steps to a rhetorical analysis.
Three steps to writing a rhetorical analysis for body paragraphs. Steps can be repeated as much as necessary. Typically, you need two quotes to support the argument/analysis for one rhetorical device:
1. (Notice) Pick the quote and the rhetorical device
2. (Focus) Explain how the rhetorical device functions in the quote as you explain what the quote means.
3. (Analyze) Explain why the rhetorical device, as used by the author in the quote, is important, interesting, or relevant.
Remember, body paragraphs need topic sentences. The topic sentence should support your thesis. The thesis should support every topic sentence in your paper.
