Business Essay
Now you are being asked to write an essay on a business theme of your choice. It can be about a company, a business person/entrepreneur, a business concept/method/theory, or another topic that can affect the economy.
* This essay is to be organised as follows:
1 Introduce your company/person, or concept, and give a reason for your choice (one paragraph).
2 Describe your subject (two to four parts/ paragraphs).
3 Conclusion (one paragraph).
* You should prepare this assignment as follows:
ü Research it on the Internet or in books, magazines etc.
ü Copy and paste useful information into a ‘working document’ where you are
collecting material you might be able to use.
üReword your material, making sure to include terms and vocabulary from Market Leader. If you just copy/paste, it is plagiarism, which amounts to stealing.
ü Write good paragraphs.
ü Approximately 1000 words.

List of references
When writing research papers (heimildaritgerðir) or other scientific papers, it is customary to cite the sources that you are using. Some people find it rather complicated to do. In this essay I am asking you to list the sources (books, websites etc.) that you are using. Since this an English language course where the emphasis is on reading in English about texts connected with business, I will not be very strict about how you do the referencing.
You do not need to use footnotes or in-text citations (nota sviga í textanum til að visa í heimildir), you only need to write a list of references on a separate sheet of paper where you write your sources in a list. This list should be in alphabetical order.
The most common types of referencing are APA referencing and MLA referencing. If you are familiar with either type, you can use that. If you have not done this before, I suggest you use the APA reference formatting. You will find links to short guides to referencing and sampl reference pages to look at.
