Start by thinking about some major life events that had a significant influence on your biosocial, cognitive and psychosocial development at the various stages of the lifespan. I suggest developing an outline in order to organize your thoughts.

Purpose/Objective: To afford students the opportunity to analyze their development and
that of their parents and grandparents by applying the course material; and 2) to
demonstrate knowledge of the course research findings, theories, terms, and concepts.
Method:
1. Start by thinking about some major life events that had a significant influence on your
biosocial, cognitive and psychosocial development at the various stages of the lifespan. I
suggest developing an outline in order to organize your thoughts.
2. Determine which course concepts, terms, theories, and research findings are applicable
to describing and/or explaining your behavior and development.
3. Devote two pages each to one of your parent’s and grandparent’s current stage of
development. Apply the course material and demonstrate your understanding of it.
3. Write an eight to 10 page double spaced paper of your developmental analysis. Apply
at least 35 terms, concepts, and theories
a. Use an essay format, with a short introduction and conclusion and separate
paragraphs for various main ideas in the body.
b. Use separate headings for each stage of development (i.e. early childhood) and
subheadings for each domain within a stage that you discuss. You are not required to
include all domains within all stages. Only include a domain if it contains
important/significant life events that affected your development as an adult today.
c. When writing your paper, be sure to highlight the various terms by bolding or
underlining them.
d. You must cite your sources in the paper properly using APA format and cite the page
number if using a direct quote (i.e. Berger, p. 300). List your sources in a bibliography.
However, the bulk of the paper is required to be in your own words. Do not use “block
quotes (more than 40 words and/or three sentences), and you should use direct quotes
sparingly for support. I am trying to ascertain what you know and not what you can copy.
e. As with your assignments throughout the course, you need clearly demonstrate your
understanding of the course material in your writing. Write the paper as if the reader has
no knowledge of psychology and you are attempting to communicate your understanding
of the material.
