Group Project and Oral Exam:
Guidelines and Criteria for Assessment

Guidelines:
·
Students will work in groups (to be assigned by the
instructor) to research and write a complete report on an organization.
·
The report will count for 25% of the grade and will
need significant inputs from the students.
·
The project report should be between 15 and 20
pages in length including all charts and graphs.
·
Teams will also have an oral final exam worth
10% of their final grade. Questions may be directed to particular team members,
but everyone will get an overall group grade. Preparation is essential.
·
Questions will be of a general nature but will not
be known in advance.
· Any
teams shown to have plagiarized will receive a 0 on both parts of the
Group Project.

Instructions:
·
Choose a company from the list of the World’s Most
Ethical Companies (available at https://www.worldsmostethicalcompanies.com/honorees/)
·
You
may not choose a company that you have written about in the case
studies.
Part 1
·
Find and report on the company’s mission and vision
statements. (Annual reports are often useful here)
·
Investigate
the company’s past ethical decisions. How did it approach these decisions? What
errors did it make? What theories or ideas did it use to justify its
decisions?
·
Include
at least three recent news items about the company that demonstrates its
approach to solving ethical problems.
·
Assess
its vision and mission in light of its history and recent events. In the view
of the group is it meeting its ethical obligations? Explain.

Part 2
·
Your
report should also consider these questions:
1.
Why
is the company your group has chosen on the most ethical companies list?
2.
What
are the ethical standards being applied by the rating organization?
3.
Do
the group members feel that these standards are accurate? Why or why not?
4.
Which
standards are sound; which standards should be changed?
5.
How
does the company compare ethically to its competitors?

Recommendations/Conclusion/Charts and
Graphs/References
o Looking
at the results of Parts 1 and 2, make 3 general recommendations for how the
company can continue to improve its ethical strategy.
o Please
include any large charts/graphs in an appendix at the end of the report.
o
Include a Works Cited list in APA format. Works cited
should be from reputable sources found in the library, on the mainstream media
or the company’s own website.
