The focus of this writing assignment is to examine what four “tools” that can help you “Separate the Issues in Conflict” (pages 135-168 in our Text) are likely to be most useful to resolve the conflict when you meet with Rob tomorrow at 6:00 am as stated in the hypothetical situation. Assume that Rob will agree with the Chief and that you will not. Why? Because transferring officers based on their race is not the ethical and appropriate thing to do under the circumstances.
You must utilize only four of the 10 “tools” and give reasons why you selected each “tool.” The assignment will be a maximum of 500 words. You will be graded down if your essay is over 500 words. You can use this optional Checking Word Count job aid to enable you to arrive at an accurate word count. Please disclose the word count of the assignment in a logical place on the assignment itself. Note that the word count only applies to the core substance of the paper; the cover page, references, and other ancillary elements do not count towards the word count.
