Step 1: Begin by visiting and exploring the United States Federal Government’s disaster preparedness planning site, Ready.gov/plan

Step 2: Next, answer the following questions:
What disaster or disasters may realistically hit the area in which you live? Explain your answer.
What factors do you need to keep in mind when developing a disaster preparedness plan?
What would an effective family communication plan include? Be detailed in your descriptions, but leave out personal information.
Given the factors that you need to keep in mind and the type of disaster that you are preparing for, what would go in your emergency supply kit? Why did you choose each of those items?
Step 3: Using the answers to the questions you provided in the first part of your project, create a plan for your family or group of close friends. You can use the forms provided on the Ready.gov/plan website. It is not necessary to include personal information such as addresses and phone numbers.
