Create and develop your own agency. provided information such as the name of your agency? How big is it? How many are employed? How do you recruit? Which specialized units do you have? Is your agency a small municipality, or a large metropolitan agency? How is the budget allocated? What kind of policing system do you follow? What positions do you have? What policies and departmental orders do you enforce? What is not tolerated? What kind of benefits will you have for your employees, and so forth.
The purpose of this assignment is not just to have you be creative but also to get you thinking about all of the things that a chief of an agency has to worry about and provide for the agency to run smoothly. There will be issues that come up, individuals that misbehave needs that you have to meet (like when a pandemic strikes), and so forth. The topics from the first lecture will help as those are areas of concern.
I do recommend that you read ahead or skim through the chapters as a lot of those topics and terms will help you see things from a different perspective and to think like a manager (i.e., chief) of a police agency.
