UNIT 5- Executive Branch
Questions:
1) Why were the Foundering Fathers so concerned about the amount of power vested in the President? It was the most debated part of the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Will love to hear your comments.
2) Why were the foundering fathers also concerned about how to elect the President? Please note we don’t have a direct democracy, but an Electoral College. Therefore the political power is not necessarily granted to the masses. Will love to hear your comments.
3) Can the Presidency survive with the lack of power vested in the President? Note the number of roles he has, but ultimately he has to go to Congress for approval. Will love to hear your comments.
4) Should the President have more Power or is placing power in one person another form of Dictatorship? Will love to hear your comments.
5) FYI, Electoral College, I think that the Electoral College is outdated, it’s not a true democracy, look at the 2000, and 2016 elections, Al Gore and Hillary got the most votes yet they were not elected the president, hence it’s one of the reasons why many folks don’t believe in the system. It should be one person, one vote like most countries. Please note that Barack Obama in 2012 campaigned in only 10 states, that is all he needs to get re-elected, what happened to the rest of the country?
