Objective: You will compare and contrast primary elections and general elections.
Primary Elections Newspaper Editorial: Before the high-profile presidential election and all the drama that accompanies it, there are the primary elections. There is debate among citizens about whether these elections are necessary. Do you think primary elections are necessary? You will assume the viewpoint of an opinionated newspaper editor in an imaginary town and write a newspaper editorial containing the following components:
a lede (introductory) paragraph that introduces both sides of the debate
at least two arguments for or against primary elections
at least one argument countering common arguments from the other side of the debate
Additionally, your newspaper editorial needs to contain the following elements:
the newspaper’s title
the author’s name
the date published
two columns of text
at least one relevant image
a minimum word count of 700 words
Your writing should use proper spelling, grammar, and conventions. You will need to conduct outside research for this assignment.

Is there more or less emphasis placed on primaries in certain states compared to others?
