What matters most is organization.
In the materials and methods section, it is alright to reference the pages of the lab manual where the
protocol is written, as long as any differences in what we did are noted. For example, we follow the
protocol for Gram staining closely, except that the we may have used different bacteria. You must have
the title and authors and edition of the lab manual written out in the methods section.
