After watching the video, explain how today’s business workforce and the nature of work itself is changing. What role does technology play? Will outsourcing continue to play a role?

After watching the video, today’s business force and the nature of work has been continuously shifting into what I want to categorize as a more sensitive era. There was a major emphasis on the fact that we as leaders are going to have to be able to lead effectively. I feel as though one of the reasons being that with this new era of work it’s easy for folks to leave a job or occupation and move on to the next one when they feel undervalued. Another reason being is that in some cases the people you are overseeing may not be physically in the office. You have to possess the right skills to allow your leadership to be felt and respected even when you only see folks once or twice a week or not even physically at all. Which boils down to you ensuring your employees are taken care of and are provided with adequate leadership involvement whenever needed. Correctly empowering them can lead to success in this type of workforce.
Technology plays the biggest part in all of this. I feel as though Covid-19 has shown most employees their worth within these companies. If our job is able to be carried out while working from home and with little to no effort, why would anyone go above and beyond while the salary or pay isn’t comparing. The advancement of technology has opened so many doors and opportunities that we’re trying to play catch up especially our employers. I feel as though outsourcing will decreasemore and more as we move further into this technology era

Good evening class,
The ever changing workforce is something that is a bit of a hot topic at my current job. I currently work in the supply chain industry specifically in a warehouse setting. I can personally say that contingency work is one of the most impactful changes to the workforce. About eighty percent of our new hires are from temp agencies; this can be both a good and bad thing. The benefits of having contingency workers is that they are easily replaceable and that they have a wide range of work experience. The downside is that the quality of work may differ from person to person. I compare it to playing a game of roulette; the odds of finding quality help are not in your favor. I do believe that contingency work will continue to rise because of the high turnover rates in many of our businesses.
Social media has also become a major factor within the workforce as well as a company’s infrastructure as a whole. With the rise of social media businesses have to be vigilant of the type of exposure that they attract. One unsatisfactory experience with a customer can quickly turn into a massive decline in customer relations. However it is not all negative. Social media has allowed companies to promote themselves in a way that suites their customers base. It has also given them the ability to screen future and current employees for potential red flags and infractions of company policies.
