Explain why you believe your position is correct in spite of the counter-argument.

Step 1: Choose one area of government regulation
Choose one specific area of government regulation (often called an Act) to research. Keep your topicr focused on this single regulation.
Approved Research Topics
Antitrust (or competition) policy and regulation (for example, the Sherman Antitrust Act)
Communications: TV, telephone, internet (for example, the “net neutrality” issue)
Product quality or consumer safety, including drugs and food, the FDA (for example, the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act)
Environmental Regulations/EPA (for example, the Endangered Species Act)
Banking and the financial sector (for example, the Dodd-Frank Act)
Be sure you keep track of your sources as you research, as you will need to cite them on your document.
Step 2: Content
Write using your own words. Do not copy and paste from any source without putting the copied information in direct quotes and citing the source. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU COVER EACH AREA BELOW!

Identify the regulation or act you chose and provide a definition for it.
State your position on the issue. Are you in favor of the regulation? Or, do you favor deregulation?
Reasons for your position. Make a list of reasons why you hold your position. You should have at least three well-developed reasons.
Counter-argument and defense. Share a major counter-argument from the opposing side. Explain why you believe your position is correct in spite of the counter-argument.
Economic Impact. Explain your solution to the issue you researched. What is the economic impact?
Image. Add a relevant image to your poster for impact. Political cartoons would be a good choice. Be sure to cite the source of your image.
Works cited. Before starting to research, consider the quality of your sources. Better sources are government websites, organizational websites, or major media articles. These are generally more reliable sources than a personal blog or a website created by an individual (unless that individual is a highly credentialed expert in the field).

You should have at least two sources to cite. APA format is preferred, but any method done correctly will be acceptable.
