In your first message, greet your classmates and then describe the argument Paper 3 will make. What debate is it focused on?

Hi! We’ll use this discussion to help you think through and brainstorm your arguable topics for Paper 3. Remember that Paper 3’s topic should be something debatable; in other words, the topic should have multiple sides to it that are arguable. Your Paper 3 will argue for one particular position.
Some topics are not workable for Paper 3. The topics that won’t work are topics like the following:
“Here’s what a person in this field does all day,”
“This is a good field to get into,”
“Working in this field is gratifying,”
“This field is harder than people think,”
“People in this field work hard and so should be paid more,”
“People in this field work harder than people in that other field” (or any other comparison between two fields),
“This field needs more recognition.”
These topics listed above are not really debatable issues that can be researched or argued about.
Other topics that should be avoided are the “big” issues like abortion, gun control, euthanasia, or the legalization of marijuana.
Instead, think about important issues in your field that require a solution or a change. For example, your paper might argue through research and evidence that the current schedules used by hospitals are overworking nurses and other medical staff. Or, a paper might argue using research and evidence that keepsake sonograms should be regulated through specific institutions. Or, a paper might argue that ambulance services should not come from private companies. A paper could argue that abandoned oil rig platforms should be allowed to remain standing to accommodate emerging sea ecosystems.
Whatever topic your paper will focus on, it will need to consider multiple angles for the topic (including counterarguments) and how to argue for a particular position. This discussion should help with that.
You will be writing at least 4 messages: one is your own message about your topic (15 pts.), and the other 3 are messages to classmates (5 pts. each). You can use the work you’ve done on any of your worksheets for this discussion.

1. In your first message, greet your classmates and then describe the argument Paper 3 will make. What debate is it focused on? What will your Paper 3 argue regarding that debate? Then, list the reasons that you’ve developed that support that argument. You can also include any questions you have or any information you’re hoping to gain from your peers. Post it to share what you have considered so far. Your initial response should be at least 5 sentences.
2. Next, you’ll start replying to your classmates. Your replies to your classmates will consider their developing arguments. Read each message and try to consider the argument being presented. In your replies, you can ask questions, contribute more reasons to support that position, and/or suggest other ideas that are linked to that argument. Also, contribute some counterarguments–ideas that oppose the argument; try to put on your “disagreeing hat” to counter the position your classmate’s paper will take. Your replies should be at least 5 sentences.
As more messages start to be added to the discussion, you can also start contributing refutations to the counterarguments that others are posting and/or adding other ideas that have not been mentioned yet. Try to provide some new ideas or other ways of thinking of the debate that haven’t been already mentioned.
Note that your initial message is worth 15 points; each response to a classmate is worth 5 points each for a total of 30 points for this assignment. If a message is too short, it won’t earn the points.

Thank you for your work here!

Vanessa Herrera-Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

My paper discusses the benefits of AI technologies in ultrasound imaging. Many believe that implementing AI into ultrasound imaging will reduce the reliability of the exam. Sonographers will become dependent on computer-generated reports, increasing the risk for errors and missed diagnoses. Furthermore, eliminate the need for human Sonographers in the medical field. However, AI technologies have slowly integrated into the medical field with successful results. I believe that AI can significantly improve operational efficiency and patient care. At the same time, it reduces burnout and resolves the shortage of Sonographers in the field.

I’m looking forward to your advice!

Hannah Gatchel-Hi y’all! My argument is focused on how AI should be welcomed into the radiology field. This is one of the most popular debates in the field right now, many believe that 1) AI isn’t advanced enough yet, or 2) AI is going to replace radiologists. But I believe the use of AI is needed in the radiology field. Like multiple other professions, there is a shortage of staff in the radiology field, and feeding into that, there are high rates of burnout (46% of radiologists reported feeling burnout in a 2019 study). Adding to this, the workload in the radiology field is continuing to increase. AI has been proven to decrease the workload in multiple ways including helping with the interpretation of medical scans.

Melissa Ruiz-Hello classmates, I hope everyone is having a great day!!!

I want to argue how art education is just as important as other subjects that are being taught in classes. How can I help people understand why art education is important? Data suggests that students who take art classes have a higher SAT score and higher GPA’s than students who do not take art classes. It is an arguement used to defend our place on the educational field because some may disagree. Some people feel that it is unnecessary and think other subjects are more important. The list of reasons i have developed to support my arguement is art helps build students to have critical thinking, self direct learning, and problem solving. It can also help with communication, self expression and engaging with others. These skills help students with school and life. They are also helpful when you are looking for employment. This is why I believe art education is very important and also one of the many reasons I have chosen to become an art teacher.

Question: Do you think I should have put more detail of why people are against art education?
