Map Work Assignment

Directions:
Fill out the tables below for each of the 5 assigned region groups. You will select 12 countries throughout the regions in the assignment and label them on the map. You will then fill out the chart below based on the countries you selected. You will utilize the CIA worldfactbook website to answer the questions in the chart. The web address is https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/
To find your chart information select your country from the drop down search bar on the website and then go to the people & society tab and the economy tabs. Most answers are under the people & society tab. However, GDP, (the gross domestic product which is value of all final goods and services produced within a nation in a given year and is a measure of overall country wealth) is under the economy tab. Use the GDP (purchasing power parity) measure which is the first one listed.
You will also access http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/top-20-causes-of-death-by-country to find the leading causes of mortality for each county.
You will need to google and find the HDI (Human Development Index) of each country.
To answer major conflicts and recent national/international issues do a google search on your own. DO NOT LOOK AT Wikipedia or ask.com. THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE SCHOLARLY SOURCES FOR ANY WORK IN THIS CLASS. (These are not current events but more like larger/broader issues or concerns these countries deal with…check out the map assignment help/hints for further examples). Also, DO NOT JUST COPY AND PASTE THIS COLLUMN. Summarize & put in your own words BUT be sure to briefly explain the who/what/where/why of the issue. ALSO, to get credit for the issues column, you will need to site the source for each issue by including the link used.
Each completed assignment with tables and maps is worth 75 points. (Map = 10 points, Issues & Mortality Table = 15 points, the Larger Table =25 points, & the Questions & Write up=25). The completed word doc with the Table & Map must be submitted by the Map Assignment due date listed on the syllabus.
Pick countries that are dispersed throughout the regions assigned. For this assignment NORTH AMERICA, SOUTH AMERICA, MIDDLE AMERICA REGIONS’ countries are applicable. (To see which countries are applicable- look at CH 3,4, &5).

FINALLY, DO NOT INCLUDE INFORMATION ABOUT COVID IN THE ISSUES COLLUMN. EVERY COUNTRY WORLDWIDE IS STRUGGELING TO COMBAT COVID19. IF YOU ONLY SPEAK ABOUT THAT IT WILL OVERSHADOW THE UNIQUNESS OF PLACES WITH PANDEMIC NEWS.

FAQs- 1) When you fill out the charts you must include the website where your info is from. For the issues/conflicts box make sure you use reliable sources and put the information in your own words.
