Your essay should have five sections
an “Abstract” section that summarizes the portfolio (or what you plan to do and examine in it),
a “Background Information” section,
a “Research Questions” section,
an “Annotated Bibliography” section,
a “Works Cited Page” that contains sources not in your annotated bibliography but were used in other parts of the essay as well as the two readings you quoted in the “Background Information” section

In terms of organization, I would like you to follow standard MLA formatting (12-point type size, Times New Roman font, double-spacing, one-inch margins, in-text citations, etc.)

Use underlined subheadings before each of the following sections (please use the subheading titles below)
Abstract
Background Information
Research Questions
Annotated Bibliography
Works Cited Page

Abstract
Here is where you will summarize your proposal and what you will be doing, examining, etc. about unions. This section should be 250 words (or one full page) in length.

Here’s what you should put in your “Abstract” section:

A summary of the range and scope of unions (you can use the “Background Information” section to help with this),
State the two research questions and briefly describe what you plan on exploring through these questions, and
A brief response to the research questions (or what you theorize the “answer” to these research questions may/might be).

Background Information
Under the “Background Information” section, you will discuss unions, provide basic information about it, including the history, most frequently expressed stances on it, its significance in the world, and so forth.

Here’s what you should put in your “Background Information” section:

(1-2 paragraphs) – Define unions and explain what it is (if you are only looking at a smaller sub-section of a topic, stipulate what you will be examining and what you will not be focusing on),

(1-3 paragraphs) Provide historical/background information on unions pre-2020,

(1-2 paragraphs) – Explain how unions interacted with the Pandemic (or how it has affected situations, politics, etc. related to the Pandemic or vice-versa), and

(1-2 paragraphs) – Convey the significance or importance of unions and the research questions post-2020 (Why does it matter? How can the world benefit from understanding your research questions and the potential answers?)

Research Questions
In the “Research Questions” section, you will state your research question(s) and explain why unions is justifiably the focus of your time and research and why it is relevant now in 2022. Please include the the research questions in bold. Please explain your research questions in at least one paragraph per question.

Organize this section the following way –

After the “Research Questions” underlined subheading, include your first research question in bold, skip a line and include a paragraph explaining the first research question.

Skip a line and then include the second research question in bold,

Skip a line again, and then include a paragraph explaining the second research question.

Skip a line and proceed to the “Annotated Bibliography” underlined section.

Again, if you are unsure of what a research question is, go to link provided under helpful links.

Annotated Bibliography
The final section will demonstrate that unions have enough scholarly research to support this discussion and examination. You should include at least 5 scholarly sources on it (in alphabetical order by author last name).

Here’s what you should put for each of the 5 Scholarly sources:

The MLA citation (author, title, publisher, etc.) for the source,

A brief summary of the source’s content,

A description of the source’s purpose or thesis,

A description of how you plan on using this source in your essay or why it is helpful to you, and

a direct quote from the source included somewhere in the previous content (you can use the source’s “thesis” or a quote that relates to your topic, etc.).
