1A. Use this week’s assigned materials to discuss statistical and victim information about crimes against LGBTQ+ people. Next, do the statistics support the main arguments made in the “Transmisogyny Primer” and “Gender and Violence: Feminist Theories, Deadly Economies and Damaging Discourse”? Why or why not? Be sure to report the numbers and trends for the most targeted groups and define “transmisogyny.” Always be sure to give textual evidence from this week’s assigned materials in your answer.
1B. In the podcast “Queer Criminology,” UW-Lacrosse criminologist Dr. Shanna Felix argues that the criminal justice system “was not made” for queer and trans people. Use textual evidence from this week’s assigned materials to support this argument.Explain how the criminal justice system not designed with LGBTQ+ people’s identities and needs in mind? Finally, what are two changes you would suggest to make the criminal justice system more fair and equitable for LGBTQ+ folks?
