Mr. Hamdi Ulukaya is an migrant from Turkey. He came to the US for college, stayed and started a business making/selling cheese. After 10 years he purchased the old Kraft yogurt plant in South Edmeston, NY. As the company has grown the need for a “pipeline” of applicants has also grown. At that point Ulukaya noted the availability of recent immigrants and a new trend was started. Today 1/3 of his employees are ex-immigrants.
Recently the company has expanded into Australia, Mexico and New Zealand and continues to be noted as one of the great places to work. His staff of ex-immigrants are both loyal and dedicated.
